Heritage Shorthorn Bulls

Albo
$650.00

(Dual Purpose)
Sired by Columbus. Albo was an extremely popular bull in the mid to late 1970’s. He was part of the ABS stud battery and used extensively in Milking Shorthorn herds especially in the Northeastern part of the USA. His daughters had excellent udders and his sons had the thickness that was expected from beef bulls. Many consider his dam, Thornwood Royal Terri 2nd, to be the most beautiful Shorthorn cow that has ever existed. This is the last Albo embryo we will sell.
We have had IVF embryos calves sired by Albo.

Ball Dee Perfect Count
from $550.00

(Beef Tendency)

Perfect Count was raised by Dave Ball of Edmonton, Alberta Canada. He was a bridge to the transformation of Shorthorns from the “Belt Buckle Era” to the “Tall Era”. Perfect Count was a large bull with his weight ranging from 2560#- 2780#. In addition Perfect Count was homozygous polled so he was adding both the polled gene and size to his offspring. His sire, Carona Perfect, was a large bull for his time and certainly helped make Ball Dee Perfect Count the exceptional bull that he was. He was used both in the US and in Canada.
SSG has sold IVF embryos that have produced calves sired by Ball Dee Perfect Count.

Boa Kae Royal Oak
$800.00

(Beef Tendency)

We have produced a large number of calves sired by Boa Kae Royal Oak. There is only embryo that SSG will ever be selling out of Boa Kae Royal Oak, and it has the potential to be A2/A2.

Boa Kae Royal Oak comes from the Canadian herd of Berwyn & Lita Wise. He was used extensively by W. T. Bennett (Hilldale herd in Connell, Washington) crossing him on Hilldale Commander and Hilldale Geronimo daughters. Oak is the most prepotent Shorthorn bull we have ever used. His daughters have excellent udders, are feed efficient, and are very smooth muscled. Structurally he carried a lot of muscling without the fat of many bulls of his time. We will continue to use Oak in our Heritage Shorthorn breeding program as long as we are breeding Shorthorns.

Canadian Image

(Beef Tendency)

Canadian Image was a large smooth muscled bull that was dual purpose and weighed over 2400#’s. He was raised by Canadians William & Robert Creighton and sold to Ernie Esau of Elm Creek, Manitoba. He was an extremely popular bull and at the time of their dispersal he was sold to a New York buyer and was called the “salvation of the Shorthorn breed”. Shorthorns were coming out of their “dark belt buckle period” and many saw Canadian Image as the future of the breed. It is easy visualize Canadian Image as a bull that could dominate Shorthorn genetics today.
SSG has sold IVF embryos that have produced calves sired by Canadian Image.

Pleasant Dawn Seal 2nd was bred by Lloyd Hatch of Manitoba Canada.  The Hatch herd was undoubtedly one of the best Shorthorn cow herds in all of Canada for many years.  Seal 2nd was leased for many years to American Breeders Service (ABS).  He was so popular as a sire that there is almost no semen left on him.  His daughters were tremendous brood cows. From our experience using PDS2 he is a prepotent bull with both first and second generation offspring exemplifying the the positive traits most Shorthorn breeders are looking for, including growth.

Seabreeze HD Fascination
$800.00

(Beef Tendency) This the only embryo we will ever sell sired by SBF.
Seabreeze Fascination is the rarest of the rare when it comes to old Heritage Shorthorn bulls. He is the only grandson of Carona Fascination that semen still exists on. Carona Fascination can be found in the pedigrees of many of the top Shorthorn bulls by searching pedigrees. Seabreeze was used in the Jim Scafe’s Misty Hills herd in the Yukon for many years. He was a big, rugged bull that held up under the minimalistic conditions that existed in the Misty Hills herd which alone is proof of the value of his genetics. The options for utilizing Seabreeze to strengthen Shorthorn genetics are vast.

The “Bull Dozer” calf we have sired by SBF is so well muscled that he literally is a bulldozer. Compared with Modern Shorthorns, Bull Dozer has phenomenal thickness without the myostatin gene.

TPS Coronet Leader 21st

(Beef Tendency)
TPS Coronet Leader 21st is an iconic Shorthorn bull. Born in 1960 he was a large bull in a world dominated at the time by small (belt-buckle) cattle. He was a stout and thick bull that has sired many famous Shorthorn sires such as Kinnaber Leader 6th and 9th. His importance to the rejuvenation of the Shorthorn breed at that moment in time should not be underestimated. American Breeders service (ABS) promoted him as a changer bull that would bring the Shorthorn breed out of the wilderness of small cattle into the world of functional, productive cattle. Leader 21st lead that charge. The few embryos being offered sired by Leader 21st contain some of the rarest genetics/pedigrees in Heritage Shorthorns. The dams of the embryos are two of the best cows in the Whispering Hills herd. All these embryos have the chance to be both homozygous polled and A2/A2.
