Bull Selection
All bulls offered for sale were raised in a totally grass fed environment with no access to grain or hormones. Conservative estimates suggest increased weaning weights of 100-150# more and yearling weights of 150-250# more if grain is fed--this should be remembered when comparing our weights to those of other bulls.
*We can provide advice regarding bull semen selection for matching a specific bull to a buyer's Shorthorn needs and objectives. Initial contact can be via email or phone, but any subsequent follow up will need to be done by phone since email tag just does not work efficiently in discussing what qualities you are seeking to add to your herd.*

Thunder is a rugged, thick, stylish bull that is extremely docile. His calves have been vigorous, moderately sized, and flashy. His dam is 13 years old (in 2019) and looks only 5. She is one of our original cows that we have purposely retained. She is a great milking cow and her udder is still perfect. Thunder's sire, Whisper Sparky, was recently sold to Rolling Hills Shorthorns of Ohio. Sparky was a well muscled bull that was structurally sound and that bred cows easily on the hills that make up our farm. We have kept many Sparky daughters in our herd. Thunder has a lot to offer in a Modern Shorthorn bull. We will continue to use him in our own herd and are retaining several of his daughters that will add to our genetic pool.

Whisper Royal, Fall 2017
Royal Chief readily exemplifies the true Dual Purpose Shorthorn type. His sire, Meadowbrook Chieftain 9th, was known for producing quality females. Royal's dam had an excellent udder and was a large cow for a contemporary Dual Purpose Shorthorn cow. Her weight varied between 1550# and 1650#. We are not aware of any semen available anywhere from a son of Meadowbrook Chieftain 9th, so the pedigree/genetics that Royal possesses are truly unique. We strongly believe his daughters will be outstanding Shorthorn cows with good milking ability that will work in any cow herd--modern or heritage.

Meat Packer was the high selling bull at the 2014 Dubbo (Australia) National Show and Sale. We have viewed this bull in the Outback in Australia, and he is the real deal. He maintains condition in severe drought type pasture with no supplementation, while breeding cows and walking long distances to find water everyday. We saw his dam at the Calrossy Angelton School in Australia. She was 16 ½ years of age at the time with an excellent heifer calf at her side. She still had a sound udder.
